Another long-standing tradition of the Golden’s Bridge Fire Department is making a return this holiday season – the Annual Children’s Holiday Party on Sunday, Dec. 19, from 1-3 p.m., in the apparatus bay at the Golden’s Bridge Firehouse.
Although Santa is on his way, he won’t be arriving in his usual mode of transportation. Instead of a sleigh pulled by eight tiny reindeer, Santa Claus will arrive at the Golden’s Bridge Firehouse on a fire engine with lights flashing and sirens blaring. As is tradition at the annual event, Santa will pose for photos and distribute treat-filled bags to all children in attendance.
The holiday party will feature food, snacks, crafts, and balloon sculptors. Everything is free – including a raffle ticket that will be presented to every child upon entry for a chance to win some great prizes sent directly from Santa’s Workshop in the North Pole.
“We are absolutely delighted to be able to resume our Children’s Holiday Party at the firehouse –and we hear that children and adults are excited about the return of one of the most anticipated holiday events of the year,” said Steven Mines, a firefighter and vice president of the Golden’s Bridge Fire Department who also serves as chairperson of the GBFD holiday party committee.
All federal, state, county, local and Golden’s Bridge Fire Department COVID protocols and regulations in effect at the time of the event will be followed for the safety, health and well-being of guests and firefighters. Firefighter Mines said the festivities may have to be done a little differently than in the past – for example, photos with Santa may take place outdoors beside a fire truck instead of inside by the holiday tree.
“With Santa Claus the main attraction, why go to crowded malls when you can take a photo with Santa at the firehouse? Our Santa will be giving out free goodie bags – and that’s something you won’t get at the mall!” added Mines.
Ho-ho-hope to see you at the firehouse on Dec. 19!
